当林肯公园的灵魂人物麦可(Mike)在1995年初为音乐玩家时，他曾把杰斯首张专辑音乐中饶舌的部分，和九吋钉及非凡人物的音乐，巧妙地结合在一起，但麦可万万没想到在九年后的今天，他们真的有了面对面近距离的合作机会，而且激起的音乐火花一发不可收拾！其实之前有许多DJ都喜欢拿JAY-Z的音乐开刀，将其音乐融合在其他乐手的音乐里，像是DJ Mouse就把披头四的专辑”White”和杰斯的专辑”Black”，重制出一张新专辑”Grey Album”。这次话题性的合作，其实是由林肯公园的灵魂人物麦可先出招的，麦可先在杰斯的专辑”Black”中挑出一首歌，并加上林肯公园的音乐，产出一种全新的音乐能量，并在第一时间以e-mail跟杰斯分享，当杰斯收到作品时随即燃起他的兴趣，马上约了见面时间，共同研讨专辑走向及表演的细节。而除了首次的碰面讨论外，一直到表演彩排前，双方都仅以e-mail沟通，而原因正如麦可所言的：「我们要保留彼此见面时的那股”兴奋感”，让它留到表演前夕在一次的激汤散发出来！」而为了让这次的合作能以最完美的品质呈现给全球乐迷，林肯公园与杰斯决定进录音室再”对呛”一次！「在录音的过程中，我们激起更多的音乐火花！如果只是那场现场的演出，我们都不会知道LP与JZ的音乐可以翻新升华到如此高的境界！」身为制作人的麦可如此的表示着，更觉得制作Collision Course冲击理论 CD+DVD这张专辑时的压力更大、挑战性更大，而完成时比完成自己的专辑还兴奋！
